Bruce Buonauro's Biography
The Artist
A native of Southern California, Bruce Buonauro has been active in the Los Angeles
Theatre community for over seventeen years. He also holds other stage and screen
credits. He earned a Bachelor Degree in theatre and history from Cal Poly, Pomona
He also performs in local educational programs including: "Living Legends",
whose purpose is to promote and preserve American History through the medium of
live performance. Bruce began the development of "The Stories of Bernardo
de Galvez" in 2004 as an extension of his "Bring Early California to Life",
featuring Father Junipero Serra, involving Forest Lawn and Gardens of the World
educational programs.
He has really enjoyed the process of writing, producing, and performing a
piece of such adult caliber with so much historical importance for humanity.
Mr. Buonauro has visited most of the California Missions, and studied at length
in their libraries. He has been entrusted with documents and manuscripts
unavailable to the general public by the Brothers of the Missions. He appears
regularly as Father Serra at historical presentations at San Gabriel, San Luis
Rey, San Diego, San Francisco, Santa Barbara Missions, both San
Franciso and Santa Barbara presidios, as well as Carmel (Father Serra's burial site)
and San Luis Obispo.
He has performed as a part of the educational programs for Mission San Juan Capistrano,
and thousands of school age children each year through the venue
of the Adventures in Education Program at Knott's Berry Farm.
Mr Buonauro also authors and playwrites screenplays, documentaries,
and stage productions.
